Jan Philipp Janzen is member of two of Cologne’s finest bands – Von Spar and Cologne Tape – and has been working as drummer for the likes of The Field, Owen Pallett and Scout Niblett. His first solo EP under the moniker of Column is starting with psychedelic dancefloor mayhem. Looking For Shoes is melting up kraut-ish guitar- and drumloops with trippy synths into a foggy space disco trip, whereas Looking For Shoes II is opening out in a bass-induced peaktime banger showing sympathy for some proper voodoo rhythms.
On the B-Side Janzen is teaming up with Marvin Horsch (Beats In Space) shifting into darker powerful techno minimalism setting brains on fire and fitting perfectly into the realms of Areal Records.
